See it through
We must be willing to keep walking with God.
There’s an anxiety that accompanies us, isn’t there? It’s as if we wake up each morning to a furrowed brow. We scan the horizon looking for dangers, expecting holes to open up and trip us up, if not swallow us whole. When parents — or the wider culture, for that matter — betrays, it’s not easy finding a place of security and safety.
Yes, God provides, but God doesn’t sidestep the natural process required for us to take up God’s security and safety. We have a whole lot of effort to make, and God will show us how, once we give God our attention and raise our willing hands. If only we knew how grand that journey actually is, more of us would do it! It is filled with self-discovery, bits of truth about God and the world, and so much — what do I call it? — an abiding and growing knowledge that all will be okay combined with an inner strength that begins to remind us all the ways that God did walk with us through it. God has always been at our side.
This journey is not to be missed.
Reflection
Are you willing to find your security, your safety in God? How might you turn to God and raise your willing hand?
Prayer
Dear God, I’m not sure I know how to do this, but I want to be secure and safe in You. Teach me what that means. Teach me to turn to You, listen to You, and follow You. My sense of insecurity is vast, Lord, but You can fill it, and You will fill it. May I stick with this. May You and I see this through. Amen.
