Beneath the juniper…
It is our choice
With God there is never just darkness (cf John 1:5). He owns the darkness. It is at His command; therefore, it is at our command.
Hopeful realism
Hopeful realism is well aware that crucifixions occur, but this awareness is also informed by resurrection.
Cruel or beautiful?
In what ways are you teaching yourself to turn from the negative to the positive, from the cruel to the beautiful?
No time for tombs
Watch Him lead the way out of the tomb within where you keep all the doubts, the nagging (but useless) questions, and the fear. We have no time for tombs.
On miracles
Here’s the thing though: if we teach just this interpretation of “miracle,” then where is God now?
No need to be “right”
We don’t come to the Bible flippantly. We don’t come to it to condemn our neighbor or put ourselves in the right. And, we don’t come to it without our own baggage — our scars, predispositions, history, and prejudices.
The god of the public square
The God-of-the-public-square allows us to wear our costumes. The real God invites us to risk shedding those to find out who we really are.
Dangerous memories
Our memories are dangerous in this evil-soaked world because they reveal the world is far more soaked in God than it is in evil!
