Beneath the juniper…
Starting over
Suffering’s downward force is met and more than matched by God. The more we learn to see this and participate with it, with God, the more we can transform ourselves and the world around us.
Showing up
It is a profoundly humbling truth. God and me. God and you. God and us. It is rarely just God.
Suffering is central
No one cares if you’ve had an abortion, if you’re struggling with your gender, or if you have an assault rifle at home.
A strange power
It seems as if the Cross is the template we’re being urged to work from, not the Garden of Eden that preceded it.
We’re invited
Somehow, some way, I know I’m asked, invited — we all are — to bear our sorrows right along with him.
It’s personal
Suffering is personal, intensely so, and we’re never the only person present.
