We become like little children, again? Well … that is both the answer and the problem.

When a human being accompanies us, it is uplifting, comforting, strengthening. But, are we aware? Can we open ourselves to the full, ongoing, gifting awareness? When God himself accompanies us, just what is the effect?!
We’re caught
We’re not ruined. What we are is marvelous! We are complex, fantastic beings! We are impressionable, sensitive, and beloved.
Change the question
Maybe this isn’t a God-only production; maybe it’s a God-and-us drama. Instead of bombarding God with “Where are You? What are You doing? Why did You allow this? Maybe we’d fare better, get more enlightenment from “Where are we? What are we doing? Why are we allowing this?”
We need Jesus on the cross
He was willing to remain on the cross as long as I had to remain on mine. What love is this?
“Almighty God” just doesn’t work
Something needs to be thrown away, but it isn’t God. It’s the image of God we’ve taken on.
Why didn’t God hear me?
Even with my head down, even with my arms crossed, even while spewing angry words at Him, I could see His light, both on my right and on my left.
Suffering is sacred ground?
We often judge God’s presence based on whether or not suffering stopped. This is not the only criteria; and, indeed, for most of us, it can miss where God shows up so vibrantly.
Leveling the mountain
God comes to us, often without fanfare. We can learn to see. We must learn to see. This vision takes the mountains of our fears, our angers, our accusations, our panic and eases them down, leveling them…
Expect God
Where is your expectation? Is it buried beneath doubt? Has it been suffocated by betrayal? Is it combined with hope and shoved in some dark closet with a lock on the door?
